Tour Description
Floating over Luxor at sunrise is one of the most memorable things you can do in Egypt. From the basket you see the Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Hatshepsut, the Colossi of Memnon and the green fields of the West Bank as the sun rises over the Nile. Flights run every day, weather permitting.
We are a Luxor-based company, so these are the tours our guides know best.
What to expect
- Hotel pick-up before dawn, usually between 4:30 and 5:30 AM
- A short boat crossing to the West Bank with tea or a soft drink
- A safety briefing and about 45 minutes in the air
- A flight certificate, and back at your hotel for breakfast
Balloon companies in Luxor are licensed and inspected by Egypt’s Civil Aviation Authority, and flights only go ahead in safe wind conditions.
Itinerary
Sunrise hot air balloon ride over Luxor
A driver collects you from your hotel before dawn and takes you to the Nile, where you have a hot drink and cross by motorboat to the West Bank. At the launch site your pilot gives a safety briefing while the balloons are inflated. You then rise over the West Bank for about 45 minutes, with views of the temples, tombs and villages below, before landing and receiving your flight certificate. We drive you back to your hotel.
Duration: about 3 to 4 hours including transfers.

How much is a hot air balloon ride in Luxor?
From $50 per person, including hotel pick-up and return and a flight certificate.
Is the Luxor balloon ride safe?
Operators are licensed and inspected by Egypt's Civil Aviation Authority, and flights are cancelled if the wind is unsafe. If that happens, we rebook you or refund you.
What should I wear?
Layers: it is cool before dawn, especially from November to February, and warms up quickly after sunrise. Wear closed shoes.
Can children fly?
Children usually need to be at least 6 and tall enough to see over the basket. Ask us for the operator's current rules.
