Cairo and Nile Cruise Holiday
Egypt had always seemed like a dream to me, full of mystery, golden light, and old tales that I was eager to witness for myself. Although I had read about and watched films on the Great Pyramids, nothing compared to actually seeing them.
I came into king tut Tours after looking through innumerable tour packages. There were so many variations available that it seemed like every Egyptian variant was just waiting to be discovered. Their correspondence was cordial, intimate, and expert from the first email. They personalized my schedule, took care of all the details, including hotels, flights, transfers, and even my visa, and made everything seem extremely simple.
As a solo traveler, I needed the ideal balance of luxury and adventure, and their staff assisted me in selecting the ideal program the Trip to Egypt: Pyramids & Nile by Air. They even indicated that March would be the best time to go, and they were spot on the crowds and weather were wonderful.
I was both excited and a little anxious when the day finally arrived and I boarded my aircraft to Cairo. I was aware that this was not simply another trip; rather, it was the beginning of a voyage created especially for me, and it was even better than I had anticipated.

My Cruise Adventure in Cairo and the Nile
Day 1: Arrival in Cairo: The Start of My Egyptian Adventure
As soon as I got off the plane at Cairo International Airport, the experience started. A cheerful king tut Tours agent was waiting with a sign bearing my name. I didn’t have to worry about anything because he handled everything visa assistance, customs, luggage, and transportation so expertly. In a matter of minutes, I was viewing the golden turmoil of Cairo from the window of a private, air-conditioned automobile
I stayed at the Le Raid Hotel de Charme in Khan El Khalili, captivated by its Ottoman charm, hand-painted ceilings, and tranquil jasmine-scented courtyard. While sipping my welcome drink, I felt the hotel reflected Cairo’s rich history. That evening, I met with my tour manager to discuss the Cairo and Nile Cruise itinerary before dining alone and exploring the nearby souks, where the air was filled with the scent of spices and glowing lanterns.
.I decided to stay at the Le Raid Hotel de Charme in the center of Khan El Khalili since it was my first time traveling with them. With its Ottoman charm, hand-painted ceilings, antique furniture, and serene courtyard filled with the aroma of jasmine, it proved to be the ideal choice. As I sat there sipping my welcome drink, I had the impression that every area
of the hotel told a tale of Cairo’s past.My tour manager and I met that evening to go over the agenda for the Cairo and Nile Cruise and confirm all the information for the upcoming days. I ate dinner alone myself that night and strolled through the neighboring souks. The scent of spices filled the air as the lanterns glowed.
Day 2 – Face to Face with the Pyramids: A Day of Ancient Wonders
We began the day at the Great Pyramid of Giza, and I was astounded to see one of the Seven Wonders of the World in front of me. As my guide told me tales about how it was constructed thousands of years ago, I couldn’t stop gazing at the enormous stones and wondering how they did it all without the use of technology. To be honest, it made me shiver.
Then came the camel ride, which was my favorite part. At first, being on the camel seemed a little strange, but as soon as we were going across the sand, I couldn’t stop grinning. The Sphinx and the Pyramids were nicely framed behind me, making the view seem surreal.

I had seen a ton of pictures of the Pyramids and the Sphinx on social media before traveling to Egypt, with people posing, leaping, or riding camels while taking in the breathtaking scenery. I’ve always wanted to take pictures like that. I didn’t spend any time when I eventually arrived. I snapped a ton of photos.
We also visited the Valley Temple, which was previously the site of ancient rites. The stone walls are still chilly after all these years.
I then enjoyed freshly prepared falafel, warm pita bread, and creamy tahini for lunch at a neighboring tiny local eatery. Before visiting the
Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), it was the ideal diversion. I had the good fortune to visit some of the areas that are currently accessible to the public, despite the fact that it has not yet fully opened. The displays, which included enormous statues, royal jewelry, and a sneak peek at Tutankhamun’s riches, were incredible. I knew right away that I would have to return to witness the remainder when my guide informed me that the grand opening will take place on November 1st. I can only fathom how amazing the entire museum will be if what I witnessed was so amazing.
I went back to my hotel in the evening and made the decision to explore Khan El Khalili Bazaar. The night was brought to life by the sound of street musicians and the aroma of cardamom coffee. It was one of those magical, colorful, and historically significant nights in Cairo that I will always remember.
Day 3 – My First Day on the Nile
My tour manager greeted me at the hotel after an early breakfast, and we took a quick flight to Luxor, the following destination on my Egyptian journey, from Cairo Airport. A welcoming smile greeted me when I got there, and I quickly boarded the Nile Cruise, which will serve as my floating home for the following three nights.
Warm smiles and a refreshing drink welcomed me as soon as I boarded. I couldn’t take my eyes off the large windows in my cozy cabin that overlooked the Nile.

Soon after, lunch was brought, and to be honest, I couldn’t help but eat! Everything, including fresh salads, grilled meats, and Egyptian fatta, smelled and looked fantastic. Fortunately, I later discovered that there was a little gym on the cruise, so I decided it was guilt-free even though I had eaten far more than I had intended! And I could at least make things balanced.
As part of my amazing tour of Luxor, we spent the afternoon exploring the East Bank. I was astounded by the Karnak Temple; it seemed unreal to go between those enormous columns covered in hieroglyphs. I even pretended to prop up one of the enormous pillars for a few pictures as my guide demonstrated how the ancient Egyptians precisely lined up the temple with the sunrise!
We visited Luxor Temple as the day grew colder. The entire area was illuminated by the sunset, giving the impression that you were entering a dream.
That night, I had dinner on the cruise under soft lights. The food was great, the music was relaxing, and the Nile looked beautiful. Later, I sat on the deck watching the moonlight on the water and thought, this isn’t just a cruise it’s like travelling back in time.
Day 4 – Discovering the West Bank’s Hidden Treasures
got up early that morning to a refreshing breeze blowing through the window and the gentle sounds of the Nile. I made the decision to work out in the cruise’s tiny gym before breakfast because the air felt clean and serene. I had a filling Egyptian supper of ful medames, eggs, potatoes, and a nice cup of mint tea after a little workout. I felt prepared for yet another adventure after such a wonderful start to the day.
Soon after, we started our tour of the West Bank of Luxor. I entered the vibrant tombs of the ancient pharaohs after we crossed the river and went directly to the Valley of the Kings. Bright paintings and hieroglyphs that appeared to have been created just yesterday covered the walls. I was astounded by how nicely everything had been preserved as I stood there for a bit and snapped a few pictures.

We then went to the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, which was constructed directly into the Deir El-Bahari cliffs. The view from there was breathtaking, with verdant fields along the Nile on one side and the desert on the other. I tried to image how magnificent it must have appeared thousands of years ago as I strolled about taking photos.

We made a detour at the Colossi of Memnon, where two enormous statues stood proudly in the open, before returning. After hearing their narrative from my guide, I couldn’t resist snapping a final picture while feigning to hold one up with my hands.
Lunch had already been served when I got back to the boat. I sat on the deck with a cup of tea and watched the riverbanks float by as we started sailing in the direction of Edfu. The beautiful sunset over the Nile was the ideal way to cap off a day that will never be forgotten.
Day 5 – A Journey Through Edfu and Kom Ombo
As we continued our tour of the Nile temples, the day began with a quiet breakfast on board. Before we arrived at Edfu, I made the decision to go for a quick stroll on deck because the morning breeze felt so wonderful. After that, a horse-drawn carriage was ready to transport me through Edfu’s serene streets. The ride was brief but lovely, with children waving, palm trees on either side,
and the serene Nile breeze. I got off and walked the remaining distance to the entrance when we arrived at the Temple of Horus. It was astounding to see the temple up close; the walls were enormous and exquisitely carved with images of gods, conflicts, and historical rites.
My guide led me down the small hallways decorated with hieroglyphs and showed me the sanctuary where the statue of Horus once stood. I began to feel more and more like I was living within an ancient Egyptian tale as I continued to explore.
The enormous falcon statues at the gate, the intricate carvings shining in the sunlight, and even a few selfies to commemorate the occasion were among the numerous pictures I snapped. I just remained there for a minute before heading out, trying to picture what life must have been like here thousands of years ago.
Since it was International Food Day back on the cruise, I opted for the Italian cuisine, which included delicious freshly baked bread and creamy pasta.
We went to the stunning Kom Ombo Temple beside the Nile in the afternoon. It is the sole temple devoted to two deities: Horus, the falcon god, and Sobek, the crocodile god. It was wonderful to see the symmetry and the old carvings depicting early medical instruments.
We set sail for Aswan at nightfall. I chose to unwind a little after supper and had a quick spa treatment on the cruise, which was the ideal way to cap off the day.
Day 6 – Wonders of Aswan: Temples, Legends, and the Flow of the Nile
Since it was International Food Day back on the cruise, I opted for the Italian cuisine, which included delicious freshly baked bread and creamy pasta.

We set sail for Aswan at nightfall. I chose to unwind a little after supper and had a quick spa treatment on the cruise, which was the ideal way to cap off the day.

We then traveled by boat to the Philae Temple, which honors the goddess Isis. The temple, which like something from a dream, was situated on a tiny island around by serene blue sea.
According to my guide, it was relocated piece by piece in the 1960s to prevent floods following the construction of the Aswan High Dam. As I strolled around its courtyards, I noticed exquisite carvings depicting age-old customs and tales of love and safety. Between the massive columns, the gentle light on the stone, and even a few selfies by the water, I snapped a ton of pictures.

I realized that night that it was my last night on the ship. I had a little swim in the pool after supper; the water was cool and soothing. Later, I enjoyed a warm beverage while sitting on the deck and watching the moonlight gently illuminate the Nile. My journey in Aswan came to a wonderful conclusion when I chose to spend my last night just taking in the serene scenery and the refreshing evening wind.
Day 7 – 8 _A Bittersweet Goodbye: Until We Meet Again, Egypt
My final morning on the Nile Cruise was serene and tranquil. I saw the Nile gleam in the early morning light while I ate breakfast. On my final day in Egypt, I took a quick flight from Aswan back to Cairo after bidding the cruise farewell.
I had my last Egyptian breakfast the following morning, which was feteer meshaltet with cheese, tahini, and honey. It was easy, regional, and tasty. I then went for a quick stroll around the bustling streets of Cairo, listening to the city come to life and seeing merchants open their doors. I got a cup of hot Egyptian tea in a little café and sat there taking it all in.
When it was time to leave, my driver took me through Cairo’s busy streets to the airport. As I looked out the window, watching Cairo slowly disappear, I smiled — it didn’t feel like goodbye, just a promise to come back one day.

Lodging and Cruise Experience The staff at King Tut Tours provided me with a number of lodging alternatives before to my arrival, and I decided on the Diamond plan since it would allow me to truly feel and experience Egypt up close.
Le Riad Hotel de Charme, Cairo — in the heart of Old Cairo, this boutique hotel felt warm and full of history. My room was cosy and comfortable, featuring traditional furniture and a large, soft bed. From my window, I could watch the lively streets below. The food was amazing — fresh bread, falafel, tahini, and sweet desserts like basbousa. Breakfast quickly became my favourite part of the day.
Nile Cruise stylish and elegant, with a gym, spa, and beautiful pool on deck. My cabin had large windows with a great view of the Nile, perfect for relaxing after sightseeing. The food was fresh and delicious, a mix of Egyptian specialities like fatta and international dishes. Every meal was something to look forward to on the cruise

I had to forego the optional Abu Simbel tour because there was just not enough time, but it will surely be at the top of my list for the next time. A visit to a Nubian village close to Aswan, a felucca sail at dusk, or even a hot-air balloon ride over Luxor’s West Bank would all be wonderful additions. This trip was a life experience rather than just a vacation. The most notable aspect was how King Tut Tours made everything seem intimate. In addition to his expertise, my guide was enthusiastic. Every hotel was carefully chosen, every detail was taken care of, and every transfer was on time.
Their reward program was another pleasant surprise.
