An 8-day Egypt trip at a budget-friendly price that still feels like an adventure. Instead of flying, you ride the overnight sleeper train to Aswan and back from Luxor, with dinner and breakfast served in your private compartment, and in between spend three nights on a 5-star Nile cruise.

Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive in Cairo
Your tour manager meets you at Cairo International Airport, drives you to your hotel in an air-conditioned vehicle and goes through the week’s schedule and pick-up times with you. A welcome drink is waiting.
Overnight: Cairo hotel.
Day 2: Giza Pyramids, the Grand Egyptian Museum and the sleeper train
Your guide takes you to the Giza Plateau for the pyramids of Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure, the Sphinx and the Valley Temple, then to the Grand Egyptian Museum. In the evening you board the sleeper train to Aswan, with dinner served in your compartment.
Meals: Breakfast, dinner. Overnight: sleeper train.
Day 3: Aswan: board the cruise, Philae and the High Dam
Breakfast is served on the train. At Aswan station our agent meets you and takes you to your Nile cruise. After lunch you visit Philae Temple, dedicated to Isis and Hathor, and the High Dam.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner. Overnight: Nile cruise, Aswan.
Day 4: Kom Ombo
The ship sails to Kom Ombo, where you visit the twin temple of Sobek, the crocodile god, and Horus, the falcon god. After lunch you sail on to Edfu.

Day 5: Edfu and sailing to Luxor
You visit the Temple of Horus at Edfu, then sail to Luxor over lunch. In the evening there is a belly dance show on board.

Day 6: Luxor East and West Banks, sleeper train to Cairo
After breakfast you leave the ship for a full day in Luxor: Karnak and Luxor Temple on the East Bank, then the Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon on the West Bank. In the evening you board the sleeper train to Cairo.
Meals: Breakfast, dinner. Overnight: sleeper train.
Day 7: Cairo at leisure
After breakfast on the train you arrive at Giza station, where we meet you and take you to your hotel for an early check-in where possible. The rest of the day is free, or you can add an optional trip to Saqqara and Memphis.

Day 8: Fly home
Breakfast and some free time, then a transfer to Cairo International Airport for your flight home.

Note: The Egyptian Railway Authority sets quality requirements for the construction and upkeep of Egyptian trains. It takes roughly 14 hours to travel by sleeper train from Cairo to Aswan and 11 hours to travel from Luxor to Cairo. You can upgrade your vacation package for roughly $290 per person to take a domestic flight instead, which will cut down on the amount of time you spend flying (approximately 1.5 hours).

How much does the 8-day Egypt tour by sleeper train cost?
From $2,150 per person sharing from May to September, and $2,449 per person from October to April. Single travelers pay $2,600 in summer and $2,900 in winter.
What is the sleeper train like?
Each compartment has two beds, a small washbasin and air conditioning, and dinner and breakfast are served in your compartment. It is simple but comfortable, and it saves a hotel night.
How long is the train from Cairo to Aswan?
About 13 to 14 hours overnight. The return from Luxor to Cairo is about 10 hours.
Can I fly instead of taking the train?
Yes. We can replace one or both train journeys with domestic flights and add a hotel night. The price will change.
