Five days to explore Cairo in depth and spend a day in Alexandria. Beyond the pyramids, you visit Saqqara and Memphis, the Egyptian Museum, the Citadel, Coptic Cairo and the old bazaar, with a private Egyptologist and a 5-star hotel throughout.

Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive in Cairo
A King Tut Tours representative meets you inside the terminal before passport control, helps with your visa and luggage, and drives you to your 5-star hotel.
Overnight: 5-star hotel, Cairo.
Day 2: Giza, Saqqara and Memphis
Your Egyptologist meets you at 8:00 AM. At Giza you see the Great Pyramid, the pyramids of Khafre and Menkaure, the Sphinx and the Valley Temple. After lunch you drive to Saqqara for the Step Pyramid of Djoser, designed by Imhotep in the 27th century BC, and its decorated mastaba tombs. You finish at Memphis, the first capital, with its fallen colossus of Ramses II and the alabaster sphinx.

Day 3: Day trip to Alexandria
A private car takes you about three hours north on the desert highway to Alexandria. You go down into the Catacombs of Kom el-Shoqafa, a three-level Roman burial complex from the 2nd century AD where Egyptian, Greek and Roman styles meet, and see Pompey’s Pillar, a 27-meter column of red Aswan granite raised in 297 AD for the emperor Diocletian. After a seafood lunch by the harbor you visit the Qaitbay Citadel, built in 1477 on the site of the ancient Pharos lighthouse, and the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, with its tilted granite disc carved with letters from the world’s scripts. You return to Cairo in the evening.

Day 4: Egyptian Museum, the Citadel and Coptic Cairo
You start at the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square, the oldest archaeological museum in the Middle East. Then you drive up to the Citadel of Salah el-Din and the Alabaster Mosque of Muhammad Ali. After lunch you explore Coptic Cairo and the Hanging Church, and end with a walk through Khan el-Khalili, past coppersmiths and spice sellers.

Day 5: Departure
A free morning, then a transfer to Cairo International Airport timed to get you there three hours before your flight. Our representative helps with check-in.

How much does the 5-day Cairo and Alexandria tour cost?
It depends on group size: $2,800 per person for a solo traveler, $2,600 each for 2 to 3, $2,400 for 4 to 8, $2,100 for 9 to 15 and $1,000 for 16 or more.
Can I add the Grand Egyptian Museum?
Yes. We can add it on day 2 or swap it for the Egyptian Museum on day 4.
Do I need a visa for Egypt?
US and UK citizens need a visa, available online as an e-visa or on arrival at Cairo Airport. Our representative helps you on arrival.
Is this tour suitable for families?
Yes. The pace is relaxed, you have a private car and guide, and Alexandria's seafront is a nice change of scene for children.
