Eight days from Cairo to Abu Simbel and back down the Nile. You see the pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum, fly to Aswan, travel to the temples of Ramses II, then board a 5-star cruise to Luxor before flying back to Cairo. Cairo tours are private, and the cruise sightseeing is with the ship’s guide.

Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive in Cairo
Your tour manager and driver meet you at Cairo International Airport and take you to your hotel, where they go through the itinerary with you and answer any questions. The rest of the day is yours.
Overnight: Cairo hotel.
Day 2: Giza Pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum
Your guide and driver take you to the Giza Pyramids: the Great Pyramid of Khufu, called Cheops by the Greeks, the pyramids of Khafre and Menkaure, the Sphinx and the Valley Temple. After lunch nearby you visit the Grand Egyptian Museum, about 2 km away.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch. Overnight: Cairo hotel.
Day 3: Fly to Aswan, Philae and the High Dam
A morning flight takes you to Aswan, where your guide and driver meet you. You visit Philae Temple, dedicated to Isis and Hathor, and the High Dam, which ended the yearly flood of the Nile, before checking in to your hotel.
Meals: Breakfast. Overnight: Aswan hotel.
Day 4: Abu Simbel, board the Nile cruise
After breakfast and check-out, a modern air-conditioned coach takes you to Abu Simbel, the two rock-cut temples of Ramses II, built as lasting symbols of his power at Egypt’s southern frontier. Back in Aswan you board your 5-star Nile cruise for lunch, and the rest of the day is free.

Day 5: Kom Ombo and Edfu
Day 6: Sail to Luxor, the West Bank
The ship sails to Luxor. You visit the Colossi of Memnon, the Valley of the Kings, where more than 60 tombs have been found, and the Temple of Hatshepsut. The rest of the day is free on board.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner. Overnight: Nile cruise, Luxor.
Day 7: Karnak and Luxor Temple, fly to Cairo
After breakfast and check-out you visit Karnak, which grew over more than 2,000 years into a vast complex of temples, and Luxor Temple. Then you fly back to Cairo for your last night.
Meals: Breakfast. Overnight: Cairo hotel.
Day 8: Fly home
After breakfast your tour representative and driver take you to Cairo International Airport and help you through check-in.

How much does the 8-day Cairo, Abu Simbel and Nile cruise tour cost?
From $4,500 per person sharing from May to September, and $5,500 per person from October to April. Single travelers pay $5,500 in summer and $7,000 in winter.
Are the tours private?
Cairo tours are private with your own guide. During the cruise, sightseeing is in a small group with the ship's Egyptologist, which is standard on Nile cruises. A private cruise guide can be added.
How do we get to Abu Simbel?
By modern air-conditioned coach from Aswan, about three and a half hours each way. A private car or a short flight can be arranged instead.
Can I add a balloon ride in Luxor?
Yes. A sunrise hot air balloon flight can be added on day 6 or 7.
