You will take a plane to Abu Simbel after breakfast on the Nile cruise. You will tour the magnificent Temples of Ramses II in Abu Simbel after you get there. The complex is a part of the “Nubian Monuments,

” a UNESCO World Heritage Site that stretches from Abu Simbel downriver to Philae (near Aswan).

During Pharaoh Ramesses II’s rule in the 13th century BC, the twin temples were first carved out of the mountainside as a permanent memorial to him and his queen Nefertari, to honor his purported victory in the Battle of Kadesh, and to frighten his Nubian neighbors.

But in 1968, the entire complex was moved, high above the Aswan High Dam reservoir, onto a man-made hill constructed from a domed structure. In order to prevent the temples from being submerged during the construction of Lake Nasser,
