A week in Egypt that covers the classic route at a comfortable pace and a sensible price: two days in Cairo, a 3-night Nile cruise from Aswan to Luxor, and a last night back in Cairo before you fly home. Most meals are included, and an Egyptologist guides every visit.

Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive in Cairo
Our representative meets you at Cairo International Airport, helps with arrival formalities and drives you to your hotel in a private air-conditioned van. The rest of the day is yours to rest.
Overnight: Cairo hotel.
Day 2: Giza Pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum
Your Egyptologist takes you to the Giza Pyramids: the Great Pyramid of Khufu, made of some 2.3 million blocks and once cased in white limestone, the pyramids of Khafre and Menkaure, and the Sphinx. After lunch you visit the Grand Egyptian Museum.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch. Overnight: Cairo hotel.
Day 3: Fly to Aswan, the High Dam and Philae, board the cruise
You fly to Aswan and meet your guide at the airport. You visit the High Dam, finished in 1971, and take a boat to Philae Temple, the temple of Isis on Agilkia Island. Then you check in to your Nile cruise.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner. Overnight: Nile cruise, Aswan.
Day 4: Kom Ombo and Edfu
You visit Kom Ombo, where Sobek and Haroeris were worshipped side by side, then have lunch on the sun deck as the ship sails to Edfu and the Temple of Horus, one of the best-preserved temples in Egypt. In the evening the crew hosts an Egyptian folklore show.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner. Overnight: Nile cruise.
Day 5: Luxor West Bank
You explore the West Bank of ancient Thebes: the Valley of the Kings, the royal cemetery of the New Kingdom, the Temple of Hatshepsut, built against the cliffs of Deir el-Bahari, and the Colossi of Memnon of Amenhotep III.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner. Overnight: Nile cruise, Luxor.
Day 6: Karnak and Luxor Temple, fly to Cairo
After breakfast and check-out you visit Karnak, with its avenue of sphinxes, the 134 columns of the Great Hypostyle Hall, the obelisks of Hatshepsut and Thutmose I, the giant granite scarab and the sacred lake. Then you see Luxor Temple before flying back to Cairo.

Day 7: Fly home
After breakfast our representative takes you to Cairo Airport for your international flight.

How much does the 7-day Cairo and Nile cruise tour cost?
From $2,350 per person sharing a double room from May to September, and $2,650 per person from October to April. Single travelers pay $2,600 in summer and $2,900 in winter.
Which direction does the cruise sail?
From Aswan to Luxor, over 3 nights. The ship stops at Kom Ombo and Edfu on the way.
Can I add Abu Simbel?
Yes. Abu Simbel can be added on the morning of day 4 before the ship sails from Aswan.
What should I wear for temple visits?
Light, loose clothing, a hat and comfortable walking shoes. Shoulders and knees should be covered when visiting mosques and churches in Cairo.
How long is a Nile cruise?
Usually four nights from Luxor or three nights from Aswan. Dahabiyas take four to five nights.
