1. How long do you have?
Three nights from Aswan or four nights from Luxor covers the main sites. Dahabiyas take four to five nights.
2. What is your budget?
Standard boats are cheapest, 5-star and deluxe ships cost more, and dahabiyas more again. Remember to compare what is included.
3. Which direction?
If you are flying to Luxor, start there; if you want to add Abu Simbel, finishing in Aswan makes it easy.
4. What atmosphere do you want?

A good Egyptologist matters more than the boat. Private or small-group guiding is worth it.
7. When are you going?
