Your first stop in this historic city is the Catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa, which is a Roman burial site that reveals the merging of Egyptian and Roman art and architecture. Descend below ground to visit the tomb and Caracalla Hall. Back above ground, continue to Pompey’s Pillar, an 82-foot (25-meter) granite column built to honor Emperor Diocletian, who freed the besieged city and brought food to its starving people.

You will visit the tombs of the nobles, including the tomb of Kagmini, to see murals reflecting daily life activities in ancient Egypt. Moreover,
you will have the chance to enter the Pyramid of Teti, where you can see the oldest form of the pyramid texts carved on the chamber walls, dating back around 4,340 years.

Next, stop at Dahshor, an archaeological site located about five miles from Sakkara. There are three pyramids in this less-visited area: the Bent Pyramid and the Red (North) Pyramid, both belonging to Pharaoh Snefru, founder of the 4th Dynasty, while the third pyramid belongs to his wife, Queen Hetepheres.
