During the solar eclipse, you will continue your journey from Cairo, Luxor, and Hurghada through some of Upper Egypt’s most remarkable archaeological sites in a cozy, air-conditioned car as you discover the timeless beauty of this famous city.

is a revered royal necropolis that provided the greatest leaders of Egypt’s New Kingdom (1570–1070 BC) with a celestial entrance. 63 elaborately painted tombs with vibrant paintings, holy writings, statues, and rare burial artifacts are tucked away amid its golden cliffs. Legendary pharaohs’
graves are preserved in the valley, including Ramses 1-2-3-4-5,6-7-9, Tutankhamun and titmouse 3 whose tomb, along with Ramses the Great’s, is still one of the most popular. The valley, which was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979, nevertheless demonstrates the creative genius and spiritual convictions of ancient Egypt.
Hatshepsut temple
was constructed about 1479 BC as a masterwork of architecture honoring the memory of Queen Hatshepsut, one of the most powerful and prosperous monarchs of ancient Egypt, and devoted to the creator deity Amun. Memnon colossal
are two enormous statues made of quartzite sandstone that are 18 meters (60 feet) tall and weigh about 720 tons apiece. These powerful defenders have seen centuries of history and represent Pharaoh Amenhotep III (1386–1350 BC). The statues, which were rebuilt in 199 AD after being damaged by an earthquake in 27 BC, gained particular notoriety during the Greco-Roman era because of the enigmatic “Vocal Memnon” phenomena, in which one statue was thought to make melodic noises at dawn.
Karnak temple
is considered by many to be the biggest religious sanctuary ever built. Founded more than 4,000 years ago and constantly expanded for more than 1,500 years, Karnak was revered in antiquity as Ipet-isu (“The Most Selected of Places”) and Pr-Imn (“House of Amun”), representing one of humanity’s greatest achievements in religious architecture and spiritual devotion. The complex, which was mostly devoted to the Theban Triad (Amun, Mut, and Khonsu), also honored respected deities like Osiris, Ptah, and Isis. The enormous pylons, towering obelisks, and fabled Hypostyle Hall created a magnificent panorama of faith.
