Itinerary
Saqqara
Your private Egyptologist picks you up from your hotel. At Saqqara you see the Step Pyramid of Djoser, built in the 27th century BC by the architect Imhotep: six stone steps 62 meters high, and the oldest large cut-stone building in the world.
Memphis
Nearby is Memphis, the capital founded by King Menes at the start of Egyptian history and the city of Ptah, god of craftsmen. In its open-air museum lies a giant fallen statue of Ramses II.
Giza Pyramids
You drive north to the Giza Plateau: the Great Pyramid of Khufu, 147 meters high when built and the only one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World still standing, the pyramids of Khafre and Menkaure, the panorama point for photos, the Sphinx and the granite Valley Temple beside it.
Lunch and return
After lunch at a local restaurant your driver takes you back to your hotel.

How much is the Saqqara, Memphis and Giza tour?
It depends on group size: $450 (1 person), $400 (2 people), $385 (3 to 4 people), $350 (5 to 8 people), $330 (9 to 15 people), $250 (16 to 35 people) per person.
Why visit Saqqara as well as Giza?
Saqqara shows how the pyramid began. The Step Pyramid is about a century older than the Great Pyramid, and the site is much quieter.
Can I add Dahshur?
Yes. The Bent and Red Pyramids at Dahshur are close to Saqqara and add about an hour.
Can the guide speak my language?
Yes. We can arrange guides in English, Spanish, French, German and other languages.
How many days do I need in Cairo?
Two to three days covers the main sights.
