Itinerary
Day 1: Cairo to Alexandria: the catacombs, Qaitbay and the Library
We pick you up from your Cairo hotel and drive about three hours to Alexandria. You go inside the Catacombs of Kom el-Shoqafa, the largest Roman cemetery in Egypt, cut into the rock on three levels, then visit the Qaitbay Citadel inside and out. You end at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, its reading hall and museums (closed on Fridays and public holidays), and check in to your hotel.

Day 2: Old Alexandria and Montaza, back to Cairo
After breakfast your guide takes you to the Mosque of Abu al-Abbas al-Mursi, the city’s largest and most beautiful, with an old-fashioned funfair nearby where local children ride antique rides. After an optional lunch at a fish restaurant or a classic Alexandrian eatery, you walk along the Eastern Harbor among the fishing boats and visit the gardens of Montaza, with a stop for fresh mango juice on the way. You drive back to Cairo in the late afternoon.
