Itinerary
Private day trip to Abu Simbel from Aswan
Your guide and driver collect you from your Aswan hotel or cruise at the time you choose. Ramses II had the two temples cut into the sandstone cliffs at the southern edge of his empire around 1250 BC. The Great Temple, guarded by four seated colossi about 20 meters high, is dedicated to Amun-Ra, Ra-Horakhty, Ptah and the deified king himself; its walls show his battle against the Hittites at Kadesh. The smaller temple honors Queen Nefertari and the goddess Hathor. In the 1960s both were cut into blocks and rebuilt 65 meters higher to save them from Lake Nasser. After your visit we drive you back to Aswan.
